Exemptions: Even if you are a part of one of these countries, you may not need an Airport Transit Visa if:
• You have a valid visa and permission for an EU/EEA country such as U.S., Canada, Japan and other specific countries.
• You are travel on an official flight.
• You are a family member of an EU country.
• You have other types of visas that allow you to travel without a visa.
To apply for a transit Germany visa, you will need the following documents:
- Complete the application form & declarations duly signed
- 2 passport photographs
- Valid passport for at least three more months beyond the date of your transiting through Germany, and no older than ten years. It must have at least one blank page in order to be able to affix the visa sticker. It also must be undamaged.
- 1 copy of your passport’s data page
- Confirmed airline ticket to the final destination and one copy
- Declaration of Accuracy of Information
- Copy of the valid visa/residence permit for your final destination, if applicable
- Your driver’s license and/or utility bill in your name as proof of residence in the consular where you plan to apply.
- If employed: letter by your employer confirming your employment, the beginning of your employment, your monthly salary, the beginning of vacation and resumption of work. Original letter signed with blue ink.
- If self-employed: Biz-File issued by ACRA
- If student: university letter. Original letter signed with blue ink.
- If dependant spouse without own income: letter by your spouse’s employer confirming the employment, beginning of employment and monthly salary and marriage certificate
- If a minor child: Birth certificate, school letter and marriage certificate of parents. Both parents have to sign the application form personally at the Embassy!
- Extra documents required for Airline staff:
- Staff member ID Card of Airline Company.
- An official letter from the airline company.
- A valid work contract with the Airline Company.
Important Factors:
• Stay Within the International Transit Zone: This visa allow you to stay within the airport transit area. To enter in Germany you requires a Schengen visa.
• Multiple Transit Airports: When your flight involves a transiting through many airports then you need a regular Schengen visa in place of a transit visa.
• Duration and Validity: This visa is valid only for the duration of 24 hours.
Exemptions for the Schengen Airport Transit Visa Requirement
Some travelers do not require an Airport Transit Visa according to these conditions:
• Holding Diplomatic Passports: When they have diplomatic or service passports so they do not require an Airport Transit Visa.
• Transit in Certain Airports: When your transit is through other main international airports during check for any specific exemptions.
